TU staff has worked on a large habitat improvement project on the Willowemoc behind the Antrim Lodge and just above the DeBruce property. Some of you might have joined us for a tree planting on this site in 2024. This section of the creek receives an extremely heavy amount of rocks & sediment which have been chewing away at all available soil for years. Over time, this depletes all fine soil and organic material needed to keep the creek connected to its natural flood plain and to grow healthy riparian trees and shrubs.

I’m looking for 4-5 Beamoc volunteers to join me next Thursday on site. We’ll be harvesting large willow branches from the Antrim property and using them in a unique design which bundles and rolls an installment of willows, along with stakes and fiber matting to help reform and rebuild a stream bank that can recruit and hold soil in the future. 

No pressure to commit. If folks are local and available, I would welcome available hands who want to come even for an hour or two to get to see it in action.
